VOF - Patching

Halo,

I am working with VOF in 3D.

In VOF patching is required for secondary phase. In case of simple geometries its works fine with the dimension. When we have some triangular geometry, How can we patch the secondary phase?

Sketch of the geometry looks like this..

Sorry to ask, but what is 'patching'?

In VOF model, while initialising we need to fill the secondary phase in the specific region and the rest with primary phase. This can be done by marking some region using adapt panel. and then using solve->initialise--> patch.

Sorry, I'm out. I have made experience with VOF and its theoretical background using OpenFOAM. Your question is too FLUENT-related.
I'm afraid I can't help you there.

doesn't Fluent mark the cells necessary if u just put in the coordinates? I suppose so ...

Define the region as a separate volume and patch it

VOF - Patching

You can first set a region in Adapt->region in fluent ,you can either set a quad region or circular one using the input coordinate . Then then you can patchthe after initialization , in the patch panel choose the second phase and set the value to 1 or so. you can check it using display->contour ->phase fraction
Hope it helps
