Axisymmetric Vs 2D Flow problem

Hello,

I have tested one axisymmetric problem in Fluent with one UDF associated with that particular problem. UDF takes care of the momentum sources in axial and radial direction.

Now, i want to redefine my problem and model the problem as 2D problem where i can not use axisymmetric features.

Can use the same UDF for the momentum source term in x and y direction?
My question is whether axial direction and radial direction in Axisymmetric case is equivalent to x,y direction in 2D case?

Thanks,
Nik
