Hii all,
I am doing CFD analysis of compressor in FLUENT.I've gone through the turbopostprosess problem available on internet.I've found they have used Boundary Profiles in their simulation. Can any one tel what are they? and can i use the same boundary profiles for my problem?? reply.its urgent. thank u. |

Hello, the procedure to use them is quite simple: firstly you save the profile you want to impose (Write > Profiles > then you select surfaces and variables) and then you read them into your case (Read > Profiles). When defining your boundary conditions, you can choose this profile instead of the "constant" option, just besides the value input.

can i use the profile of one case into another case of same type...? for example profiles of one compressor into another compressor of different dimension??
Thank u.. |

I don't know how does it work if you use a profile writen for a different size suface...you can read it and the values are available for BC, but why would you like to do that instead of using identical surfaces?

respected sir,
is it possible to read profile for diff problem and applying appropriate value of BC for existing problem?? n i don't know how to use identical surface... will you please explain about it. Thanks a lot for replying. |

Oh thanks for the "sir"
but please you can call me by my first name ![]() Well, I never really used it, but I know you can read any profile in any case and then this profile will be available when imposing boundary conditions. I don't know what happens if you choose this profile for a different surface, I only know it's possible. BTW, can you describe exactly what you're trying to do? It may be easier for us to help you. |

well SIR,
Actually i want to do analysis of flow through 3-D compressor. i tried a lot applying different BCs.But haven't got any good results yet. Here I am describing my BCs. Please correct me if I am wrong somewhere. 1) Density based solver 2) Model- RNG k-e 3) Fluid- Ideal Gas (Rotating in moving reference frame @ 40000 rpm) 4) Inlet- Pressure inlet (pressure of 1 atm and temp 288 K,Turbulence specification method - k and e) 5) Outlet- Pressure Outlet (pressure- 2.6 atm, temp-460 K) 6) all other walls- moving wall (moving reference frame @ 0 rpm) These are my BCs. Tel me if I am missing something. and can I have your E-mail id for further concern. Thank You. |

Ok, now I don't understand why you want to use boundary profiles...if you already have inlet and outlet pressures, you don't need anything more. And what do you mean by "haven't got any good results"? Did your simulation converge at least? Do you compare results with experimental data?
I think it's better if we continue here, since other people can help and be helped as well, but if you really want, you can send me a private message through my profile page |

no sir my result is not getting converged....!!
it shows reversed flow... and also if i am using ideal gas as fluid then the pressure, temp and other values are out of range.for ex. it shows pressure of around 15atm at 40000rpm...!! |
