GAMBIT and FLUENT turblulent trip

Hello all, I'm trying to model a simple surface trip with a roughness height of .00635 m in my model, but when I export the mesh and read it into FLUENT, FLUENT says the surface isn't referenced by the grid. So it suppresses it from showing/being interact-able. Is there any way to create a surface WITH the wall property for roughness height? I've tried everything I can think of. Surface tool, gridding a 2D surface, expanding the model so that the grid surface is forced to show, etc. Or should I try to separate the two zones? I'm using FLUENT 12, so i thought it would predict transition as soon as I get the meshing right. And the only way I can get the BL tool to display is to have a flat floor surface...otherwise I would just model the trip with a slightly raised surface with a roughness height of .00635m to generate the reference surface I need. Let me know what you think.

Probably you can achieve the same thing by defining a certain portion of your solid surface with the desired roughness directly in Fluent (you can specify the height of the roughness if I remember correctly).

I tried that after it appeared the surface creation tool wouldn't let me do that. The problem too is the entire lower surface is called "floor" and is modeled as a wall. Do I need to split that surface? Will the grid reference them both once I export it to FLUENT?

Ah nevermind, I just figured it out. I used virtual faces and t-junctions with auto-tolerance to merge the separate faces. Everything gridded beautifully now too. Thanks again!
