Inviscid solver and vorticity
Hello,
I would like to know if there is any numerical diffusion or induced vorticity in the inviscid solver in Fluent. Because I get 2D vortex shedding but I am not sure where the vorticity comes from. Unless the shedding is inviscid? Thanks. |
1st order upwind and 2nd order upwind spatial discretization schemes (both available in Fluent) introduce some numerical diffusion. The diffusion will be reduced if using the second-order scheme.
Vortex shedding with an inviscid solver is a purely numerical phenomenon. |
