Hi Everyone,

I'm relatively new to using Fluent/Ansys Workbench. For my design I have 2 parts which are a cup with a solid piece of metal which fills the entire cup. The whole assembly is suspended by struts which hold it to an outer tube which is then filled with water. I created this geometry in Autodesk Inventor, and imported it as a STEP file.

The issue I am having is that when I run Fluent, it does not recognize the piece of metal inside the cup as a solid (even though all the settings throughout the workbench and Fluent itself considering it a solid). Is there a way to connect the cup and piece of metal? The cup and piece of metal must be different materials for my design to work properly. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

hi
when you imported a .step file there isn't possibility modify the geometry.
but if i didn't understand bad, it's not necessary, for create a unique part you go on design modeler and create a new group. So you are a one part formed of two solid.
i hope that it's can help you on your work.
best regards
