hello sir,

This is my final year project.. the main objective is to reduce the drag by installing synthetic jets in the quarter chord of the airfoil along spanwise direction..while testing it in windtunnel, the air flows over the airfoil and also a compressed air is blown into the synthetic jets so that it comes out of the airfoil, both the flows ie., flow over the airfoil and airflow from the synthetic jet mixes together.. this is called Mixed flow analysis..

How to solve this problem in fluent..? Is there any tutorial to solve mixed flow analysis..? please guide me sir..

Hi,
you can use FLUENT to model that.
you can model realistic compressed jet or simply you can set some momentum sources on your airfoil instead if the jets flow rate are not comparable with main flow rate.

regards,

Amir

Thanks for ur reply sir,

i dont know how to interact both main flow and compressed jet flow in FLUENT..please tell some procedure to solve this problem..

Thank you..

first of all you should decide about simplifications. (as I said before you can model complete or a simplified one)
for example if you want to model complete one, you can consider some inlets over airfoil that inject high pressure air with specified angle(pressure inlet B.C.) the interactions between them are FLUENT tasks and you shouldn't care about.

you can search airfoil with suction and/or injection modeling, you may find in internet. I didn't see your specific case in FLUENT tutorials.
