I don't know what you want to compute...

Ohh.. i would need to calculate the velocity contour within the mixing tank and would like to use the MRF method to solve the problem. Can i know what are the boundary conditions? Thank you for your help so far! :)

Did you checked tutorial 9? (Using MRF)

cfd_confuse October 15, 2010 15:25

Hi Max, i did try out tutorial 9 and apply the same boundary condition as given. But my solution did not converge and it diverge after 1000 iteration. Skewness of the cell is also < 0.6.. so i guess there must be some conditions that i did not set, that had cause the solution to diverge. Please enlighten. Thanks in advance :)

Check display of velocity contour and pressure --> are they in agreement with your expectations?
Check also mass conservation (report/ mass-flow)

so I received your file.
Do followings:
*delete volume2
*create cylinder (height 0.2 / radius 1=radius 2=0.04 / Axis Location Positive Z)
*split volume1 with the cylinder (volume4)
*delete volume5 (solid) --> should be already deleted (volume2) but it's early this morning, don't want to investigate :o)
here we are, you have 2 regions: rotor and stator.
*copy volume1 with translation (0.1 0 0) (it generates volume 5), delete volume1
*move copied volume5 with translation (-0.1 0 0)
* The 2 volumes are now disconnected.
Apply interfaces (one for each volume)

Hi, max. For the splitting step, is there any effect if different sizes of cylinders have been used? The sizes of cylinders have been attached as follow. Please have a look and thanks for help.

no influence
But I would extrude the inner cylinder through the whole domain (along your revolution axis)
