how to see the coordinates?
Hi everyone.
I have a simple 2D mesh loaded in fluent. I want to know the coordinates of nodes or points in the mesh. How can I see that? Please some one help me.. Thanks Doctsh |
Hi,
export file to tecplot then you can export coordinates to a .dat file. |

Hi...sorry....
there is no export option in fluent 12. Any alternative idea please? |

Hi,
Ok. you can import case and data files directly to tecplot by FLUENT data loader in tecplot. |
Thanks Mr. Amir.
I have worked with many technical softwares. Undoubtedly Ansys fluent is very advanced. but it is not user friendly. If one can not view the coordinates of the mesh in the display, What is the need of display? Flow 3d has very simple way to show the coordinates and so with other CFD softwares. People in fluent may show some mercy towards novice users and make user friendly! so that we also learn and contribute something to the academia. |
Hi,
I agree with you. you can't trust to such commercial softwares. but there exist many ways by which you can reach to your goal depend to your experiences. e.g. for your question you can also use FLUENT capability itself. in plot menu after selecting grid in parameters, select X or Y position, you can view or write that data separately. regards, |
Thanks Amir.
I am learning your method too. by the way r u from India? Regards, Doctsh. |
I have found that I can get away with using "Surface" -> "Point Surface" to grab coordinates from the model. Otherwise, it's back to GAMBIT or ANSYS DesignModeler (unfortunately also not the most helpful program for this) or even native CAD for that matter to grab point data. If you need data about the location of cells, you will probably still need to write out a profile of the area with X,Y,Z coordinates. I know the original thread is referencing a 2D case, but generally speaking, these are the techniques I would try.
Anyone have better methods? |
hi, is it possible to get flow path line displacement after some time of flow? can you please help me in that how to get velocity and stream line displacement in any simulation

But, I found a way by creating points (Create --> Point) with different X and Y value. So that, you will get to know axis. |
