Default with or without dynamic mesh

I would like to model the interaction of fluids in a tank. Those fluids are immiscible and interface appears between them. When there is a motion to one of the fluid, the moving fluid should have motion and the interface should be moving instead of stationary. I am going to model it with VOF. Just the problem is: Should I use dynamic meshing in this case? If anyone does have the similar example on this case, can please send me the detail of modeling this case? Thanks for your help.

It's not required to get the dynamic mesh. If you wish to capture the interface accurately you can use mesh adaptation.

Thanks for your help. I am new to CFD and do not familiar with mesh adaptation. Can you please give me a brief explanation on how to operate it or do you have any tutorial regarding on it? Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi wlt,

If I am not wrong, the link shows the model simulated with FLOW 3D and not Fluent. If you consider this model then simulation in Flow 3D is much easier than in fluent. As moving component model and free surface model can be easily set in Flow 3D.

However, this can still be modelled in Fluent too, but need little more efforts.
for mesh adaptation you can find the respective tutorial in tutorial guide.

Thanks for reply. I agree with you that in order to make the work easier, FLOW 3D shall be the best choice in order to study my model. I am using FLUENT just because my company does have the license of FLUENT and we are using FLUENT instead of FOW 3D. Hence, I try my best to model it with the FLUENT. Any idea to study my model with FLUENT?

Thanks for reply. I would like to study my model as best as possible. Hence, I am looking for the best way in modeling it. I found that dynamic meshing shall be the best way in studying my model. However, I am not sure about it and do not know how to operate the dynamic meshing since it might be complicated and time-consuming. Therefore, I am looking for suggestion in this forum. Do you have any idea in order to make it the best?
