Default Switching Interface to Wall, Flap valve

Hi,

I would like to simulate the closing process of a flap valve. At the moment I am working with a simplified 2D model with a coarse grid (see the pictures attached).
With a mesh as shown in picture 1 FLUENT aborts the simulation when the flap reaches its end position as the mesh height becomes zero.
Therefore, I thought about creating a deforming interface, as shown in picture 2, and switch it to "wall" by Scheme shortly before closing.

The switching "interface to wall" works, but after that the solution becomes highly unstable or aborts instantly.

Is anyone adept at simulating valves or has done this kind of stuff who can tell me what I have to consider?
