how to get forces on Iso-Clip Surfaces and How to get forces in cylindrical coordinat
 
1. On wall, we can get forces by using Report-->Force option. How to get forces on Iso-Clip Surfaces? By using Surface-->Iso-Clip, I generate four surfaces on a wall. Now I want to get forces on these four surfaces but these four surfaces are not present in Wall Zone column in Report-->Force option. So please inform that how to get forces on Iso-Clip Surfaces?

2. In Fluent, we can write force on a wall by using Report--> Force option. It writes force in Cartesian (x, y, or z) coordinates. I want to write force in cylindrical coordinates (axial, radial and tangential direction). How to get forces in cylindrical coordinates?

Hello,

I have searched the forum and I have not found an answer to this question. (http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/flu...o-surface.html is another unanswered thread for this).

I am using fluent v15.0

Esstenially I have a wall surface which I want to know the force exerted on, however I would now like to split this surface at the maximum radial co-ordinate and have two surfaces. A forebody and afterbody.

So I have completed an iso-clip of the wall surface which has worked correctly. But I cannot evaulate a force integral on my new clipped surface.

Does anybody have any ideas?

If you can export the contour on a wall you can post-process the data with more freedom.

Do you mean exporting the raw pressure and shear stress data from the wall? And then performing the integration manually?

I found a way of calculating the force on the clipped surface directly in fluent. I set up a surface integral of shear stress and pressure along my clipped surface, which is what fluent does in the force integral anyway. It is not ideal as it is easy to make mistakes with projected areas, but it works.
