Patching and UDFs

Hi,

I have a rectangular domain where I ignite it in the middle. This rectangular block has uniform flow through it. The problem I'm having is I don't know how I could specify the region to patch since the flow through the domain is uniform. Is it possible to somehow define a particular region (in terms of the x,y,z coordinates) where I could specify for example temperature values?

If this is not possible I was wondering if I could initialise a heat source term in FLUENT, whereby initially I could raise the temperature in the ignition region using a UDF.

Hi,
adapt->region..... create your region and just mark that. then you can use this marked region in patch panel.

Thanks for the reply. I've now understood what you've said. I just created a sphere with the coordinates. Thanks.

No. in adaption panel, there are 3 ways to define your desired region,i.e. hex,sphere and cylinder. in this way you can capture number of cells and then mark them. then in patching panel set your desired temp to them.
