fixed bed wood gasification

hello,

i'm a student trying to simulate wood gasifiaction in a downdraft biomass gasifier. i tried the single phase approach but i do not understand how to introduce wood in the gasifier. The wood chips are to be placed on a grate in the bottom portion of the gasifier. There are two air inlets and one gas outlet.

thanks

hi SDR 14

there are vaious ways in which you can simualate gasification
1st approach to go for multiphase model
2nd approach to go for dpm

in mulitphase model you can define wood as the solid and oxidant as a gas phase and carry out simulation after defining various reactions you want to include,,

in dpm approach you have to inject wood as particles and you can define oxidant separately and can define required reactions...

better you try to follow few tutorials related to multiphase modelling and dpm approach ,, that will help you understood how to set the case and solve..
