Fluid Structure interaction (FSI)

Hi friends,

Is there anybody who give me some more information and details about the implementation of the FSI On the fluent Software,
I would be grateful if you send me some FSI tutorials or any relevant files which can help me in this regard. Does anybody has any special UDF or...

Thanks,
Oshin

FSI is a multiphysics problem and can be solved using ANSYS or COMSOL but not Fluent. I am not sure if Fluent 12/13 has some integration capabilities with ANSYS for carrying out FSI.

Hi,
It is possible to model FSI with ansys-fluent in one way; for two way modeling, you can use ansys-cfx.

Hi osirous, Amir is right in one way. I did not think about it. You can estimate pressure acting on a structure from the flow field solution in Fluent and use ANSYS to perform a stress/strain/deformation simulation, and vice versa. What I was thinking of "real" FSI problem is a strongly, bidirectionally coupled problem between the fluid flow/pressure field and the solid deformation. For that, it is CFX or COMSOL.

Hi osirous, I might be wrong. Please look at this post:

He is actually trying to do this problem in Fluent by specifying the fluid pressure on the wall and using an UDF to solve for the wall deformation. He is presently having issues with making a dynamic mesh. Perhaps, you two can collaborate if you like.

Hi skullCFD, Thanks for your help. in fact I read some papers that manipulate FSI in fluent using UDFs and journal files that's why I ask you guys to help me if you have any special information about this procedure.

Thanks
