when defining a dynamic mesh do i need to mesh the dynamic and the static part seperately and then assemble the two parts in fluent?

Hi,

you don't have to mesh it separetly but you have to assign different names to the fluid zones and boundary conditions.

So for example a archimedes screw turning in a chamber with a small clearence must be defined with two seperate boundary conditions and then the die at the end of the screw needs to be defined seperately again? I tried using the moving frames of reference like you suggested but apparantly this is not useful when there is a clearence around the archimedes screw.

The clearence allows for clay to move backwards and form a seal within the extruder, which apparantly is another reason why the moving frame of reference won't give me the correct results.

Like this only I only have to model the barrel around the archimedes screw and the die. The screw is the rotating zone and the small gap around the screw is a clearence the die is also not rotating.

Thanks
