Hi guys,

does anyone know if any of the newer versions of Fluent allow you to plot / locate residuals like x-momentum or energy, and not just mast balance? It is quite frustrating since that would help pinpoint where issues might be, whether they are related to physics or mesh.

Thanks in advance!

You have to enable an option to save the cell residuals by typing in the following command into the TUI:

Code:
solve/set/expert n y n n
(the defaults are n n n n)
the y enables the option in "Save cell residual for post-processing?"

Then make sure you do some new iterations to generate and create these fields (and possibly save the new cas & dat file if you want to use a post-processor). Then there will be variables under the residuals category that you can visualize within Fluent. They will also now be saved into the .dat file and you can also see them in a post-processor like tecplot or CFD-Post.
