How can I check the stall angle of an airfoil? I have read something that in transient mode we can rotate the airfoil and check where it stalls, but how can we do this? An elaboration would be very appreciated.

  • What you are stressing on is a Dynamic Meshing Mode which you can achieve through a UDF (User Defined Function).
Stall happens at a certain angle of attack when the Lift force suddenly drops.
You don't need a moving mesh ( which you are going for) to find out the stall angle.
Just use normal transient mode and change the angle of attack until the CL drops suddenly, if you are only interested to find out the stall angle.

Thank you for your response. How can I change the angle of attack in transient mode during simulation? I am not much acquainted with transient simulations.

You can manually Enter X and Y component of Velocity in the boundary condition i.e. if Angle of Attack = 0 then X component of Vel = 1 and Y component of Vel = 0 m/s. ( Using cosine relations - google it).
