Match Control and Periodic BC ANSYS 12.1

Hello,

I am trying to assign periodic BCs to two sides of an axially protruded circular sector that represents a segment of a cylindrical control volume. This thin (5 degree) slice will be used to solve a combustion problem.

When I try to use Match control in the meshing application I get a ludicrous error message: "Warning: The mesher was unable to successfully match the mesh for the following faces/edges. Please verify that the topology is the same shape and size. Also verify the position and orientation of any associated coordinate systems."

The shapes and sizes are identical: I used revolve to get the 3D part!

I have spent a lot of time with the user guide and have gotten nowhere.

How can I match these surfaces so that i can later assign periodic BCs during the setup step in Fluent?

Thank you

  1. Have you tried using Arbitrary Match Control for matching?
  2. Have you tried introducing symmetry or periodic region in Ansys meshing?
  3. What error do you get when you try to generate periodic setup in Fluent?
