modeling solids feeding to air flow

Hi Guys,

My case is the gravity feeding of solids from a cylindrical container (Height ,h)to air flow inside a pipe. How can i model this in fluent. I want to find out the velocity profiles of the solids . What boundary conditions should I use. Initially the solids are at rest and when the valve is opened , solids fall due to gravity to gas flow.

Someone kindly help me.

try using DPM model, and activate gravity in operting conditions along the direction of flow desired.

Thanks Harpreet for your reply. But what about the boundary conditions.what will be the initial velocity of solids.

although i haven't tried, but i think if you could the unsteady case with initial velocity of solid particles set to zero, it should work. For the boundry conditions more description of your problem is required.
