External radiation temperature

Hello,

I have a problem. I want to get the temperature of an horizontal surface. I want to include the effects of convection and radiation. In "mixed" option, it expects “External Radiation Temperature”. What is the External Radiation Temperature and how to calculate this temperature?
Thanks for replying!

hi,
external radiation temp. is temp. of infinity. as you specified, radiation is important for you and radiation is occurred between you body and infinity. so temp. of infinity is used to calculate radiative heat flux: heat flux~(T^4-T_inf^4)

mohammad
