two different two phase model

Hi
do u think its possible to use desceret particle model ( injection of water in fluid1) and vof model (fluid1 is in fluid2) at the same time in a domain ?
thank you

bohis September 26, 2011 10:49

yes, it is possible, as a matter of fact manual also says so...

Hi
Thank you for reply, is it in help or user guide?

bohis September 26, 2011 11:06

user guide, but there is just a remark that it is possible. It depends on what you want to simulate...

hamid1 September 26, 2011 12:23

hi,
that is like injection of water in a two phase flow (fluid 2 and fluid 3 while fluid 2 and 3 are modeled with VOF)

bohis September 27, 2011 04:18

then u need to write some UDF to provide coupling between DPM and VOF.

hamid1 September 30, 2011 05:26

thank you, but could u explain a little bit more..

bohis September 30, 2011 06:03

u did not described your problem in details, for this reason nobody here can help you here.
From my point of view, I can only tell you a general rule:

1) write UDF to for mass, momentum, energy transfer from DPM to VOF
2) make sure that everything is conserved (no sinks, sources)

thank u for the clue..
the problem is injecting water in the domain of two fluids (fluid2 and fluid 3),
the domain is a pipe.. fluid 2 and fluid 3 are modeled with VOF and the injection of water is modeled by DPM,
