VOF mass conservation
 

Hey all,

I am modeling a two-phase separator problem where the heavier fluid settles down and the gas leaves from the top.

This is a 3-D problem, with a region of porous elements as well in the tank to model a set of drip plates.

I am unable to conserve mass with the VOF method. I am running VOF as steady state - but the results show that the heavier fluid starts settling down and then starts recirculating back up.

I have tried to over/under relax the solution to no avail.

Any tips are greatly appreciated!
