Submerged object in water

Hi,

I'm studying the motion of a submerged cylinder in a wave tank. The wave motion can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kA5CTsGQQc

Mt question is: How could I study the motion of a submerged buoy? In real life the buoy would of course be attached to the seabed with a rope etc. How could this be done in Fluent? Is a UDF needed?

Thanks in advance!

You can use the VOF multiphase model with FLUENT. You need a UDF to specify the height of the water level at the inlet. Otherwise other BC's are pretty straightforward.

Luke
