Deflagration/Explosion simulation in Fluent

Hi everyone,

I need a bit enlightening from some experienced user in combustion.

I have to simulate deflagration and explosion of several imflammable atmospheres in a confined space to predict blast loads.

Iīve been reading Fluent manuals but I still donīt know how to address this issue, itīs my first time simulating combustion.

I have 2 questions:

1- My atmosphere is explosive due to a gas leackage, therefore I consider it quite still and Iīve thought the premixed model will do the job, can you confirm this?. What conditions would make necessary to change to a different combustion model?.

2- How can I know whether a deflagration or explosion is going to take place?. Do I have to define it somehow within Fluent or does the software "knows" how to handle it (shockwave creation) depending on the properties of the fuel and model?

Thank you very much in advance, any help will be most appreciated.

Best regards

Bert
