Spray_drying of milk

I m working on a spray drying process of milk in fluent. Milk is sprayed from the top by injection and hot air is used to dry the milk so that solid milk particles are obtained. I need help regarding the following points(i am using DPM).
1) Do i have to select multicomponent model in fluent or i can just add a material named milk with its type as droplet particle. 2) Do i have to give boundary condition at point of injection of milk. 3) In species transport what species i should select. 4) i have tried by adding milk as droplet particle but the water is not evaporating from the milk. |

I am recently working on similar issue (but not milk). According to what I've gained through my recent research, I will try to answer your questions. 1) Do i have to select multicomponent model in fluent or i can just add a material named milk with its type as droplet particle. Droplet means, only 1 component. In ur case, u have 2 or more. So multi-component will be used. For example, if the milk droplet is a mixture of water and calcium. Then, for drying, water needs to be evaporated into vapor and eventually the vapor along with air will exit through the dryer. Hence, DPM multi-component droplet will be needed which will include (water and calcium, for example). Secondly, when u use "multi-component" then in the "materials" panel you will see "droplet mixture" and "droplet material" where u can specify the properties of individial components in the mixture. 3) In species transport what species i should select. Just selcect species transport with "mixture template". You can modify it in the Materials panel. Read the "materials" in the User guide and how to specify the mixture. It's very well written. 4) i have tried by adding milk as droplet particle but the water is not evaporating from the milk. I think, u havent specified water anywhere. P.S. You may need to write a UDF for "multi-component vaporization" Define DPM heat and Mass. So far, I am trying to work on UDF to include multi-component vaporization. Good luck |

Can you please tell me the composition of the milk you used for modelling and why that particular composition ?
