line on surface / length-avereaged

Hi,

I have a curved surface and I want to create multiple lines (spanwise = not curved) on this surface. How can I be sure, that my line is on the surface (if got the coordinates but they are not 100% correct)? This is important for me, because I have to compare nusselt number .... or is fluent using the closest nodes to my line?
But I now want to calculate a length-averaged value on each of these lines.
So do I have to choose the "area-weight-average"? Or which mode is equal to a length averaged value (I worked with CFX before and there was a length averaged option).
Thanks

And there is my first Problem. I got the coordinates from CAD, but when I am using these coordinates I get a error (line creation failed). I guess its because these coordinate are not on my surface (due to display tolerance of cad data) ....
But when I manually change these coordinates so that my line is in my volume (but not on my surface) I don't get this error.
