Particle devolatilization

Hi guys,

Im currently trying to model a burnout of a single coal particle passed through straight pipe heated system. Basically it comes in cold and reaches temperature as it moves along the tube.

Since there is no real flame profile, is it unwise to use the non-premixed model? Can anyone suggest which of the species model is best suited in this case? (PDF perhaps?)
