Particle movement through a micropore

Hi,

I've been recently assigned a project that I am having some difficulty approaching. It is to model the flow of suspended cells (biology) through a micropore. I was hoping for some direction on what I need to learn to accomplish this.

A crude drawing shows what I think is needed:
  • creating a mesh for a pipe and a micropore
  • modeling elastic particles
  • combine the two for particle flow
I've understood after a couple weeks of reading that it isn't simple at all. My questions:
  • Is it possible to implement microscale particle flow in FLUENT (with other ANSYS products, possibly)?
  • Do I need to take any special steps for microscale flow as compared to "regular"-sized flow? The documentation does not specify.
I think answers to these questions can help me get started and I can see where it goes from there. Thanks.
