Hi All,
I'm trying to export pressures on a surface in FLUENT as a hmascii file to be read in Hypermesh...I'm pretty new to Hypermesh so bare with me. I'm trying to use FLUENT's export>solution_data option but I see no hmascii option available. I've learned if I don't run fluent using parallel processors I can see an ascii option available but no hmascii. Anyone have any ideas how to get hypermesh to read these pressures? Is there another file type other than hmascii that can be exported from fluent to be read in Hypermesh? Thanks in advance for any advise! |

I would look for Nastran. It is usually supported.

Hey thanks for the reply!! That was quick. FLUENT will let me export a NASTRAN but it writes a BDF file which Hypermesh doesn't want to read...

Greetings. I am attempting to export a mesh consisting of 2D triangular elements in STL/ASCII format in Hypermesh 11.0. Every time I attempt the export, I get the attached error message.
The number of elements "not defined in the template" (244684) is the total number of elements in the model. Does anyone have any familiarity with this sort of error message? Thanks in advance. ![]() |

chose ansys as template, and export fem model as *.cdb format

cdb as the suffix, you can enter *.cdb , and fluent will import the file

I've had reasonably good luck exporting surface pressures as Abaqus *.inp files and reading those into hypermesh. FLUENT will export a file that contains both the node and elements defining the surface and the pressures acting on those nodes.

Looks like I'm in the wrong subforum; I actually need this exported in STL format in order to read it into 3-matic (not Fluent). I'll repost in the main CFD forum. Thanks anyway, though.
