Hi guys,

I'm trying to select a workstation for my CFD simulation. Someone gave me a list of HP Z820 workstation, you can see below, but the price is soooo expensive.

HP Single Unit Packaging
QG197AV
HP Z820 1125W 90 Efficient Chassis
QG517AV#ABU

LW490AA#ABU
HP CPQ LA2206xc 21.5-In LED LCD
UE342E
HP 3 year Next Business Day Onsite plus Defective Media Retention Workstation

Since the high price, I want to change to CPU to E5-2650. but the frequency of E5-2650 is just 2.0GHz, I'm not sure if this is fast enough for CFD simulation. However, in terms of cpubenchmark, http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html, this one is also OK. So, could you give me some suggestion about this workstation?
Should I change some components like RAM or Graphic card?

Thanks a lot!

If you are using an unstructured mesh, then memory bandwidth is usually more important than CPU clockspeed.

What software will you be using?
You can probably ditch the ECC memory to save money, just go with desktop memory.
