Anyone owning this card ??? I have a gtx 750ti boost and I would like to replace it with the quadro k620. Will I experience lag ? When meshing 3 million node average . Thanks

I do not have a Quadro K620 at hand. But judging from the specifications, it will rather be a performance downgrade compared to a GTX 750TI. Unless you are using software that the Quadro graphics card driver has been optimized for explicitly.

In order to make sure your new graphics card is an upgrade I would recommend at least a Quadro K2200. It comes with 4GB of GDDR5 memory and apart from that has similar specs compared to a GTX 750TI.
Before making a purchase you could check what actually causes the lag in your current setup. Use a tool like MSI afterburner to monitor GPU and video memory usage. If the 2GB memory of your GTX 750ti are overflowing, a graphics card with more memory will definitely help. You can buy used K2200 on ebay for about the same price as a new K620. |

That's a nice idea to use afterburner. I actually realized i was using GTX 650 Ti boost, and not the 750...
With that being said, specs of the 650 are still better than the k620... hmm don't know why graphics lags a bit. Afterburner is showing no memory overflow. i've got 16Go of RAM and i7-3930k. I always felt like the one I had in lab (Radeon™ HD 6450) was faster than mine, now i'm comparing the specs... not even close. May It's just me... Thanks a lot for shading the light a bit on this, appreciate ! |

On the bright side, some of the extra money you pay for Quadro and FirePro Graphics cards goes into driver development. Despite being based on consumer cards with much lower specs, the professional cards can outperform their consumer counterparts by a large margin in applications with driver optimizations. Hence you could try your luck with a professional card for ICEM, Ansys recommends them.
On the other hand, some of the price is justified with "because they can". The professional hardware market is less price sensitive than the consumer market. And buzzwords like "reliability" and "stability" sell here. |
