Hello,
I have an old workstation with dual core processor (xeon x5472), this motherboard and 4x4 GB of RAM: http://www.supermicro.com/manuals/mo...0/mnl-0945.pdf I am getting a very low performance (two or 3 times slower) when compared with my laptop. It has this processor and 12 GB of RAM: https://ark.intel.com/products/52219...up-to-2_90-GHz Does anyone what is happening? Do I need 8x2 GB of RAM maybe? |

Am I right assuming that you have two processors with 4 cores each and not a single dual core processor on a dual-socket mainboard?
The next thing that comes to mind: how do you compare performance? Which benchmark? Single-core or multi-core? If multi-core, are you using the maximum number of cores on each machine or the maximum amount of cores of your laptop? Which operating system? Once these questions are answered we can try to search for a solution. |
