I use Ansys Fluent for simulation and Solidworks for cad design mainly. I am really confused about choosing cpu for a new PC. As my budget is low thus a friend of mine have suggested to go for Ryzen 5 1600 cpu.

So can you guys suggest me if Ryzen 1600 with 8gb ram enough for Ansys Fluent? Or should I choose any other Intel cpu in this range?

Thank You.

What's your current setup?

Sometimes getting used professional equipment can be cheaper.

How many cores are you allowed to use?

8 GB of RAM will most likely be to little.

I have very little idea about AMD cpu. A friend suggested it to me as it ha 6 core.
If 8GB is not enough than I will go for 2*8gb/ 16gb.

RAM is cheap. if you want to do serious CFD, 32 would be a decent start.
