Hello all,

I couldn't find an appropriate spot to ask this in the OpenFOAM so I ask here and hope that's okay.

Does anyone know a provider of an OpenFOAM cloud solution that is run exclusively by clean/renewable electricity? AWS seems to be investing in renewable energy production but the status is not very clear and in any case not 100% yet. I couldn't find any relevant information about Azure. I've searched the internet, but if I enter terms like renewable or green, I'm shown results of literature about wind turbines et al. calculated with OpenFOAM… I thought maybe someone might know. Thanks for any hints!

Cheers, Claudio

Finding a data center run exclusively by renewable energy will be complicated, if not impossible. Note that renewable are weather-dependent, so you still need a non-renewable source on the side to run an electro-intensive system without downtimes (basic requirement to provide a cloud service).

In Gompute (www.gompute.com) we use over 98% clean energy (fossil free) being around 60% renewable energy. As our datacenter is located in Sweden, we also have free cooling with a very low PUE and an efficient re-use of waste heat.So you can run OpenFOAM in a sustainable way!
