according to your experience which personal computer (i refer because i have constant travels and i don't use a stationary machine) my max budget is 3500$ dollars, what is important to take in account (the freccuency of the machine (Ghz), with how much RAM, what kind of GPU. Suppose that i need to evaluate with freccuency 3D models usiing VOf, and discrete phase, 1 million cell or more

is there any way to estimate how the machin will work? i mean the time need to perfom some transient calculation, with a very low time step during a almost a 1 second (this is only an example), can you tellme about our personal experience with any machine (dell, acer, hp, etc) and a brief resum of the kind of works and the time estimate vs the use of other computers.

lastly i pretent to adquire a dell computer (precision) anyone has usted this machine before? i'm only a student, sorry for my mistakes

If you can give me an estimate of the size of the volume you wish to simulate and the maximum flow rate, I could do a very rough estimate of the simulation time for 1M cells for 1 second.

First of all thanks for the repply, just a little question, how many cores are important according with the number of GB of de RAM? Intel i7- 10750H has 6.

i don´t if i understood well, can you make some calculations to estimate the time? how?? based in what?
the problem essencially is this:

900X3 Cells, (Impingment 3D jet water, interaction with an air atmosphere, VOF), around 0.06 seconds (velocity of 3.2 m/s), pipe diameter 6.35 mm, i used a delta t of 1e-6, the relation H/D (height/diameter) is too shor, 1.

Ok, I have run one of my simulations on a similar spec CPU to a i7-10750H. 1.8M cells took 20 seconds per timestep, so 60,000 timesteps would take 14 days. This is very rough because the settings on my simulation are unlikely to be similar to yours. However, it will give you some indication of run time.
