I seem to be running into some difficulty with setting up a MPICH cluster for Ubuntu.

I am folllowing this guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MpichCluster to help me with the setup. I ma currently on part 7. For simplicity, I currently have a master and a client setup. I am currently running into a few issues with the SSH. I think that there is an issue with the implementation that the guide is assuming that I should already know.

After setting up the SSH on the master node, I run the command ssh-copy-id <masterNodeIP> on the client node so that the key on the two will be the same. However, it asks for the password for the client node user on the master node. Looking through the guide, I believe that this is not suppose to happen because the guide does not mention anything pertaining to this. Am I suppose to have one user name across all the nodes that is suppose to be the same? Or is there an issue with my SSH implementation

I apologize but I am not sure what information I can provide to help. Please, if there is more information that I can provide, please let me know.

Also, if you have a better method for implementing a MPICH cluster, then please let me know, too.

I've moved your thread from the OpenFOAM installation sub-forum to the Lounge, given that in this thread you didn't ask for details about installing OpenFOAM itself, but rather installation and setting up MPICH.
This is something that is common to be installed among various CFD software and it's also something that would probably be best to be asked on the Ubuntu or MPICH forums.

Nonetheless, given your description, I can only guess that the problem has to do with the convention that you're expecting. The idea for a cluster is that you should have the same user names and installation paths on all machines, so that the password-less ssh command can work without any problems.
Additionally, the first copy of the key will require password, since password-less access can only occur after the files are located at the correct places on each machine.
