Thermo-magnetic Fluid
Working on a project with Thermo-magnetic fluid, such as paramegnetic fluid and Ferromagnetic fluid.

The N-S equation is revised by including the Magnetic convection term.

I have used ANSYS CFX and FLUENT, and COMSOL for solving fluid mechanics problem before. Not sure these packages can do the job by adding additional convection term in N-S equations.

Just want to know if they can do the job for me, or I will need to investigate the Open source codes. Basically I think the magnetic force can be treated as a body force?

Thanks. Any help will be appreciated.

I am in the middle of a project with a similar idea with FLUENT. I was planning on using a body force UDF to do the necessary magnetic calculations but I haven't gotten that far in the project yet. I do know that ANSYS has a Magnetohydrodynamics module ( that may be of use but I haven't looked a great deal into it.

that's very helpful
I was using CFX for a while, didn't know ANSYS has a model like that. Thanks so much for your information.

No problem. I'm curious on how well it works with your project.

I actually just got started, still working on the math, should be starting working on Fluent next week. My plan is to at least start trying something before the end of this month. I will probably ask (you) about more. :) thanks again.

Sure. I have no idea how to use that module so you're better off looking at the user's manual I sent for that. If they're general FLUENT questions then I could probably help.
