I have just started to study CFD,but I found my knowledge on PDE and their numerical soulutions are not that sufficient.
Would someone kindly recommend some classical textbooks on both basic and advanced PDE which are suitble for an engineering major student? Many thanks! |

Dear peak,
If you would like some textbooks on PDE for engineering major, you could refer to the text books by Randall Leveque 1. Numerical Conservation Laws for hyperbolic problems 2. Finite volumes for hyperbolic conservation laws Regards, Ganesh |

Maybe you could check numerical recipes at the web. You can download the book from their site (www.nr.com).

Its not clear what kind of problems you are interested in solving.
For high-speed compressible flows the books mentioned by Leveque are excellent - the second book is more useful than the first (not surprising as its a development of the first) and its available in a 'cheap' student edition. The books by Charles Hirsh are also very good (but expensive). The book on Riemann solvers by Toro is also pretty useful. The book by Anderson is a good starting point but is limited once you have a grasp of the basic ideas. Not strictly a book about CFD but the book by Roache dealing with errors should be a MUST read for all CFD practioners. |
