how to proceed with implementing wall function approach

Lets say
I have calculated the Y+ and U+ values at the first node from the wall.
Assume Y+ < 5 therefore Y+ = U+

What is the next step.
Calculate the u value from U+ which is u/ut where ut is the friction velocity and substitute the u values for calculating the diffusive fluxes of the momentum equation or replace the old value u with this new u value calculated from U+. .

u need to be updated only from momentum equation. This equation is used to evaluate shear stress at the wall.
