viscosity variation

i am lakshmanan doing design engineering at PSG. i am currently doing my project in cfd. my project was when the gear is running the variation in temperature will affect the viscosity of the lubricant, which cause the wear on the gear materials. please explain me how to get in to this project. thanks lakshmanan

Re: viscosity variation

Gear lubrication falls basically in the area of thermo-elastohydrodynamic lubrication, and there a wealth of literature, including some books, in this area. I guess with some net search or access to a good library you can find the relevant material.

Re: viscosity variation

How about looking in a good fluid mechanics book, such as White, Viscous Fluid Flow under the heading Sutherland law for viscosity Good luck and Cheers

Re: viscosity variation

Refer viscous fluid flow by F.M White. In the general governing equation you have to include the visocity term inside the partial differential
