Hello,

Could anyone explain to me what a long time exposure (and short time exposure) schlieren means in the context of an inert flow and most expecially in a combusting premixed flame.

Also, does anyone know how to use Fieldview to create Sclieren images?

Thanks.

Schlieren images are obtained by displaying the magnitude of the vector gradient of the density.

Although strictly this is only true for a two-dimensional flow (in 3D the real Schlieren image is an integration through the flow in the viewing direction).
