Hello:

Does somebody know some good reference for the spectral method, it is about the detail of the numerical method not the theory.

regards!

Indeed, the book of Sherwin and Karniadakis is an very interesting one. But is deals with spectral/hp _elements_, not with the spectral method.

The spectral method uses a single (periodic) domain with a large number of functions. The spectral elements divides the domain in elements, off course, and use a smaller set of base functions within each element. It is a very efficient way of achieve high accuracy, similar to what is possible with the spectral method but much more flexible when it comes to dealing with complex geometries.

You'll want to read the book by John P Boyd, Chebyshev and Fourier Spectral Methods. John has a free copy of the book on his website. See more details at the CFD book section listed below. http://www.cfd-online.com/Books/show...hp?book_id=364
