which mesh types to choose?

Hi.
Can you help me find some literature regarding the right choice of mesh types? I'm up to do a simulation of a non-newtonian fluid flowing laminar in a straight pipe. But I don't know which mesh type is most decent for my simulation (tetra hexa prism). Can you give me a rule of thumb or a link to some useful articles?

The rule of thumb is quite simple here: Hex is ALWAYS better than Tet regarding accuracy and computational cost.
The only problem is that complex geometries cannot always be meshed entirely with hex elements.

As its the straight and simple geometry its better to use hexahedral (structured) mesh.
