meaning of streamlines in plane -- CFD Online Discussion Forums

Kiffer New Member Join Date: Aug 2012 Posts: 7 Rep Power: 13	I am a little confused about the streamline plot during the post process. For a 3D simulation , eg. flow around an airplane, many people cut a plane and plot streamline on it, so what does this "2D" streamline represent? In reality, particles won't move only on a single plane...Could anyone explain on this? Thanks.
