New User: University Student

Hi All,

I am a completely new user to Ansys and will be trying to teach myself how to use the software to work on a nozzle optimization project for school. I have access to "Ansys 13.0 Mechanical APDL". Do I need either of the optional CFD packages CFX/Fluent in order to do this type of work?

Thank you,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you are already given all the loads or stresses experienced by the nozzle, then you could simple use Mechanical APDL. However, if you are trying to simulate fluid flow through the nozzle and then analyse the fluid-structure interaction you need access to CFX, Fluent or any other external CFD application.

Hope that helps.
