Faf Field Boundary Condition

Does anyone know how I should apply the far field boundary condition to my CFD code? Any advice or reference would be appreciated.

Regards, Sarah

your far field condition will depends on flows condition ( subsonic or supersonic)?

Are you using any commercial software or developing your own?

Dear for all, Anyone can send me these documentations to my box e-mail: bekna2006@yahoo.fr 1)Prediction of laminar and turbulent flows past single and twin airfoils (Ph.D. Thesis) OBASIH, KEMAKOLAMM 2)Numerical calculations for flows past an unconventional airfoil (Ph.D. Thesis) TSAI, P I N G-H O thank you in advance

Re: Faf Field Boundary Condition

Thanks.

I am developing my own code based on finite volume method, and the flow is high subsonic - and compressible.

Actually, it is an airfoil-like shape, if I define the far field like U=Uinf, V=0, T=Tinf, P=Pinf, then I need to define a very large domain which needs a large number of grid points, and it is impossible, practically. So, I need to make the domiain smaller, but I have to know what sort of corrections I should make.

Please give me some advice, even if it might be slightly helpful.

Appreciate it.

Sarah

For subsonic flow you can use the point vortex correction. Please see the paper

Far-field boundary conditions for transonic lifting solutions to the Euler equations

It is also explained in the book of Blazek. http://www.cfd-online.com/Books/show...hp?book_id=263

There is a range of methods that you can use for your far-field boundary conditions. A good review of these methods can be found in

Modeling Artificial Boundary Conditions for Compressible Flow, Colonius, T, Annu. Rev. Fluid Mech. 36: 315-345, 2004

Hope it helps.
