3D mesh adjacency

I am CFD student and I have to write a 3D CDF code using Discontinuous Galerkin.
I have to use unstructured meshes. For the mesh generation I can use GridGen, Gambit or ANSA. Does anybody know if there is an easy way to obtain the adjacency of the elements? These generators does not export this information. Thanks a lot. |

Hello there! My opinion is that if you have time, write your own grid generation code. You gain lots of experience and "understand" your geometry better, but the bad thing is that it will not be as good the mesh as with commercial products. But is the point truly there???

It's unlikely mesh generators not exporting connectivity data. All unstructured mesh softwares I've already used export such kind of essential information.
Any way, try out the following unstructured meshers: NETGEN: http://www.hpfem.jku.at/netgen/ (very intuitive and efficient for simple models) TETGEN: http://tetgen.berlios.de/ Cheers Renato. |
