How to dispose CFD software for best performance

Hi, all.
I´m new in CFD and FEA, and I´m not sure how to dispose the software for maximum performance. Should I install O/S and the CFD software in separated hard disk?
and yet should I use another separate disk for the files, and another for the temporary memory access? If not all my disks have the same speed, wich one should I use for each task? The fastest for the O/S, for CFD software, for the files , or for the temporary memory access?
Thank´s

Buy an SSD disk and install your OS, the CFD software and everything else in there.

thank´s, lefteris.
If I do have several SSD disks, of different size and speed, I still do have the same questions. What would be the best arrngement for best performance?

thank´s

I believe you need only 1 SSD disk about 120GB where you install everything. Personally, I have the OS, the cfd softwares and the working folders (I mean a folder for each case I work on) for the softwares at the same drive and the other files that are unnecessary for cfd are on another drive. I don't know about memory access though.

mmm, ok, well thank´s for your prompt answers. I´ll be investigating about this topic. I´ll post it in here if I get it more clear.

Thank´s

There's a section here dealing with hardware topics. The guys there are definitely more informed on such matters than I am.

I know lefteries, I did also posted the question over there, but seems that people in hardware forum section don´t know much about hardware..... :)

anyway, maybe I need to wait a litle more for someone to help me on this.

Again, thank´s for your interest.

Disk access should be a really small part of your total analysis time. If you do not have enough memory (RAM) and need to use swap memory from HDD then you need to decrease problem size or get more memory.
