Hi everyone,
I'am a new user of CFD softeware (fluent) so I want to know what's the difference between the model of turbulence LES, DES, and RANS and what's the advantages and the disadvantage of each one of them, which of them is linking to mech, etc. Thanks for your help and welcom for all explications THanks |

I think that the first issue is to understand that LES, RANS, ecc, are different "formulations", not models... That means that you solve for different types of variables. I suggest to start with a reading of a good CFD book before to get into turbulence modelling...then, the Pope's book can be useful |

Hello;
If you go, if you go to the tab help in fluent > PDF's> User's Guide and go to the chapter 13, you will see whtas the best turbulence model and what are the main characteristics of each model easily. I am in the same problem than you and i am using this information. |
